From January 17-19, 1974, China used its military
force to occupy the Paracel Archipelago. Since then, China has claimed that
this is a bilateral issue between China and Vietnam and has rejected
multilateral efforts at dealing with the situation.
The purpose of the conferences is:
1. To find out whether the Paracel Archipelago is an
issue that affects the security and interest of the whole East and Southeast
Asia region, and possibly beyond.
2. To discuss possible scenarios for settlement of
the issue and for peace and stability in the region.
This event is open to public. However, since seats
are limited and we need to have a fairly accurate count for lunch, we would
appreciate your reservation through this link https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1Do6J7MjzxbvQEw0TUmkJvF8zOBNVVXM4hy9Be5fi3Hk/viewform
